PAPP 2025 Beach Clean Itinerary

This itinerary relates to our planned trips to Scotland this Summer to clean beaches.

Dates are fixed.

Can you Volunteer for Beach Cleaning?

Fri 4th July

Group from Southwest UK Travel Day

Leave Devon UK, and drive up to Scotland. Pick-ups at various points along M5 / M6:

1 x Trustee from Carlisle (WB)

Sat 5th & Sun 6th July

PAPP Small Group

If you have come here from local facebook group, we could really do with some help please. We will meet at Kings Green Caravan Site, Port William at 9.30am. So please turn up if you can. If you would like free lunch and dinner please email to say you are coming we will need 48hrs notice: thorpy@papp.charity

We will be present in Scotland from this date. This section of trip will be near Port William, Galloway.

Notes:

Camping (Kings Green Campsite in Port William) is booked for these dates (if you intend to bring a campervan or similar then you will need to make your own booking).
We have arrange skip to be placed on beach.
We have permission from landowner of beach.
Awaiting response on ruse of track for access.

Type of work:

Owing to the length of distance we have to carry the plastic here (hoping to get 1.5 tons approx) we will be using an ATV, to carry dumpy bags along beach to skip. So to reduce risk to volunteers we will divide group into 2 parts:

Trustees – Any work involving use of vehicle, on beach clear of volunteers.
Volunteers – Filling dumpy bags and leaving for collection (no work around vehicles).

Mon 7th July

PAPP Move Day

PAPP to move camp from Galloway (TBC) to Arrochar.

Tues 8th & Wed 9th July

PAPP, Streetwise & “Dive Group”

We have had an offer of 12 volunteers from Streetwise, and Local Dive Group and are planning to clean shoreline of Loch Long at Arrochar.
